The move comes as development continues at the economic zone, where investors are expected to support business and industrial growth.

According to the report, a total of 46 traditional shrines have been identified in the area. However, only four have been relocated so far, leaving 42 others still at their original locations.

The issue highlights the challenge of balancing economic development with the cultural and spiritual beliefs of local communities. Traditional shrines hold significance for some residents, making their relocation a sensitive matter.

Complaints from residents and investors reportedly contributed to the decision to move the four shrines. However, details about the specific concerns raised and the process used to select the sites for relocation were not provided.

The relocation exercise also raises questions about how the remaining shrines will be handled as development at Dongo Kundu continues. It remains unclear whether all 42 sites will be moved.

KPA has so far spent Sh1 million on relocating the four shrines, but the cost of moving the remaining sites has not been established.

The development highlights the need to balance investment and industrial expansion with respect for traditional practices as work continues at the Dongo Kundu Special Economic Zone.

[27

post-650","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-county-news
["GET
