Two police officers attached to Kinjo Police Patrol Base in Meru County have been arrested over allegations of defiling a three-and-a-half-year-old girl. The suspects, identified as Police Constables Nicholas Njagi and James Mutabari, were arrested at Kariene Police Station on October 11, 2026.

The arrests followed a report by the child’s mother, who reportedly became concerned after noticing that her daughter was in distress. The matter was reported to the police, prompting investigations into the alleged incident.

According to investigators, the child was allegedly taken to a house occupied by one of the officers. Two juvenile witnesses reportedly provided information that helped investigators establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A medical examination reportedly documented injuries consistent with the allegations. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Imenti Central also visited and processed the scene as part of their investigations.

During the investigation, detectives recovered bedsheets from the scene for forensic examination. The evidence is expected to assist investigators as they work to establish the facts of the case.

The two officers were expected to appear before the Githongo Law Courts as investigations continued. The allegations against them are subject to the court process.
