A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Busia after detectives reportedly found 1,121 rolls of bhang hidden inside seven mobile phone boxes as he prepared to board a bus to Nairobi.
The suspect, identified as Titus Okware, was intercepted by detectives while preparing to travel to the capital city.
According to the information provided, the officers discovered the suspected illegal drugs concealed inside the seven boxes, which appeared to be used for mobile phones.
The discovery led to Okware’s arrest as detectives moved to stop the suspected transportation of the drugs to Nairobi.
A total of 1,121 rolls of bhang were reportedly recovered during the operation, raising concerns over attempts to transport illegal drugs using ordinary packaging.
The use of mobile phone boxes to conceal the suspected drugs could have been intended to make the consignment less noticeable during transit.
The arrest highlights the role of detectives in identifying and disrupting suspected drug trafficking activities before illegal substances reach their intended destinations.
