Kenya’s film industry is getting a boost as the Nairobi Film Festival brings together filmmakers, film lovers and industry professionals for its seventh edition.

The festival, which runs from October 15 to 25, 2026, is screening 54 films across different venues in Nairobi. The programme includes 33 feature films and 21 short films, giving audiences an opportunity to watch different stories from Kenya and other countries.

This year’s festival has also introduced an expanded industry programme aimed at connecting filmmakers with international buyers and festival scouts. Selected filmmakers will pitch their projects to industry professionals and attend meetings that could help them develop their work.

The programme also offers selected projects a chance to qualify for a KSh 250,000 development grant to support their film projects.

The festival is taking place at Prestige Plaza, Unseen Cinema and Alliance Française Nairobi. Free community screenings are also available at Kaloleni Social Hall through advance registration.

The event provides an opportunity for Kenyan filmmakers to showcase their work, meet other professionals and explore ways of reaching wider audiences. It also gives film lovers a chance to experience different stories through cinema.

The festival will close on October 25, 2026.
