Lecturers Set to End Strike After KSh 20 Billion Deal.

University lecturers across Kenya are expected to end their four-week strike after reaching a KSh 20 billion agreement with the government.
The agreement is expected to bring relief to thousands of university students whose learning activities have been interrupted by the strike.
Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU) Secretary General Constantine Wasonga confirmed that the agreement will be officially signed on Friday, October 30, 2026.
According to Wasonga, lecturers are expected to return to their classrooms on Monday, November 2, allowing normal learning activities to resume in public universities.
The strike, which has lasted four weeks, has affected teaching and other academic activities in several public universities across the country.
The KSh 20 billion agreement is expected to address financial concerns that have been at the centre of disagreements between university lecturers and the government.
The planned return to work is expected to help universities resume lessons and reorganise academic programmes that were affected during the strike.
Students and university administrators are now waiting for the official signing of the agreement, which could bring an end to weeks of uncertainty in the country’s higher education sector.
